The Crime and Security Bill has received Royal Assent, the Home Office has confirmed.
The Act contains the following provisions:
- DNA retention regime
- A mandatory 'parenting needs assessment' when young people aged 10 to 15 are being considered for an antisocial behaviour order (ASBO), and parenting orders where they have breached their ASBOs
- Powers for police and local authorities to apply to a county court for an injunction against young people over 14 to prevent gang-related violence, for example, to prevent a gang member from meeting other gang members or going into a particular 'territory'
- Domestic violence protection orders
- A licensing scheme for wheel clamping companies
- Restricting the sale or supply of alcohol
- Reduced information on stop & search
- Powers for police to search people subject to control orders
- a new offence on air weapons.

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London and Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority has welcomed the creation of the INJP and has asked the Institute to be personally kept informed of the Institutes work, progress and key developments. |
